Working within a busy maintenance environment, you will play a key role in ensuring locomotives, wagons, and tankers are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, helping keep freight moving safely and reliably across Western Australia. Key Responsibilities Mechanical servicing, maintenance, and fault repairs on railroad rollingstock Inspection and servicing of locomotive, wagon, and tanker brake systems & suspension systems Maintenance and repair of wheels, suspension, and associated running gear Diagnostic testing and fault finding Scheduled preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs Inspection and identification of defects Accurate recording of maintenance activities and completed work Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with safety and technical standards Providing support to other maintenance depots as required Roster Three-week rotating roster: Week 1 Monday to Saturday 6:30am - 2:30pm Week 2 Monday to Friday 6:30am - 2:30pm Week 3 Monday to Friday 2:00pm - 10:00pm Plus one Accrued Day Off (ADO) every four weeks. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Mechanical Trade Certificate (essential) Experience in rail, heavy industrial plant, mobile equipment, heavy vehicles, mining, or related industries Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities Commitment to safe work practices Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings Excellent communication and teamwork skills Rail experience is highly regarded; however, full training on rail-specific systems will be provided. Light vehicle mechanics looking to transition into heavy industry are encouraged to apply. Additional licences such as HR, Forklift, or other relevant tickets will be highly regarded but are not essential.
